Experienced Robotics Mechanical Engineer
New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.
Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.
Wanted: A Robotics Mechanical Engineer with a range of skills related to the development and implementation of robotic hardware.
Members of this team investigate, architect, and develop robotic hardware for a wide variety of applications and environments. Robots developed by this team operate from the icy expanses of the Arctic to the crushing depths of Earth’s oceans; the hellish conditions of Venus, to Mars, to the frozen moons of Enceladus and Europa. Teams engage in the planning, design, development, and testing of robotic systems.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related technical discipline with least 1 year of related experience or PhD in similar disciplines.
- Extensive understanding and wide application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques in solving mechanical design problems; performing trade studies; developing design requirements; developing piece-parts and mechanical systems; and providing leadership to the fabrication, assembly, and test of mechanical, aerospace or robotic systems.
- Extensive experience and skill in design and analysis using one or more CAD programs such as: SolidWorks, UGNX, or Pro/ENGINEER
